Our standards

  • Primary sources first. We base content on national health services and agencies (NHS, NICE, CDC, NIH/NCBI), professional societies and their guidelines (for example AUA, ACOG, FIGO), major academic medical centers (Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic) and peer-reviewed reviews. Every medical page lists its sources and links to them.
  • No invented facts. We don't publish statistics without a citation, testimonials, or made-up experts.
  • Plain language. We explain medical terms and avoid alarmist or falsely reassuring wording.
  • Education, not diagnosis. Tools on this site sort general guidance. They don't diagnose and they tell you when to seek care.
  • Separation of money and content. Affiliate partners and advertisers have no say in what we write. Affiliate placements are labeled, and medical advice (such as "see a doctor if…") is never softened to sell a product.

Medical review

Our goal is for every medical page to be reviewed by a licensed clinician in the relevant specialty (urology or primary care). Until then, pages show "Medical review pending". Reviewed pages will name the reviewer, their credentials and the review date.

Updates and corrections

Each page shows the date it was last updated. We review pages at least once a year and when major guidance changes. If you spot an error, please tell us through the contact form. We correct factual errors promptly and note significant corrections on the page.

Use of AI tools

We may use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help draft and organise pages. Every claim is checked against the cited sources, and no page is published as clinician-reviewed unless a clinician has actually reviewed it.

Illustrations and diagrams

The editorial illustrations on this site are AI-generated artwork created for this site. They show fictional people and settings, not real patients or clinicians, and they are decorative: they are not medical images and do not endorse anything. Anatomy and process diagrams are simplified schematics drawn by hand for teaching, not to scale, and the facts they show come from the sources cited on the page where they appear.
